Diagnose It Yourself
Find the symptom below. In almost every case you will know within thirty seconds what broke and roughly what it costs to fix.
That gunshot sound is a torsion spring letting go — the single most common garage door failure in Spartanburg. Look at the bar above the door: you will see a two-inch gap in the coil. The door is now dead weight. Do not run the opener.

Steel rollers with worn bearings, dry hinges, or loose track bolts. Cheap fix now — an expensive one later, because a door running rough tears through cables and springs years early.

Tune-up & maintenance →Start with a fresh battery and reprogramming. If that fails it is the logic board, the antenna wire, or an outdated receiver. On openers older than 1997 there is no rolling-code security at all, which is worth knowing.

Opener installation →The opener's up-limit or force setting has drifted, a roller is jammed in bent track, or one spring on a two-spring door has broken while the other still lifts. Simple to diagnose in person, not worth guessing at.

The rubber bottom seal has hardened and cracked, or the concrete has settled and left a gap. Common on Spartanburg homes built before 2005. Cheap to fix and it stops the leaves, water and mice.
